Nikki Davis

I had the priviledge of photographing Nikki Davis last weekend! She was so fun to work with because we are both so dorky and laugh at everything... You know that feeling when you just know something is going to be good from the start? Yeah, that's called love at first snap and that's how this shoot went. ;)
Nikki and I met at Amandine Bake Shop becasue it has become one of my favorite spots in Capitol Hill.
Hoping to connect with Nikki and her friends sometime in the near future to make more magic and spread those big smiles!

On The Pier

Laura is finishing up school in LA at FIDM and will be back in December full time. I am so glad she will because we will definitely have to make more magic again together! We met up at Seattle City Hall the other morning and I kept getting distracted by the fog that was engulfing downtown. After deciding to roll with it, we walked down to the waterfront and was greeted by one of the most surreal backdrops I've ever shot in. This felt like a movie set and it was made for just us. It was a quiet, serene morning and a shoot that made me feel like Seattle is more of a home! Connecting with others is the best way to help make the city feel smaller, and boy it already does! :)

Madelyn in the U District

I met Madelyn at a scocer game the first week of school when our boys were playing the UW! We hit it off and have been talking about shooting ever since. After finally scheduling a time, we headed off to The Ave in the University District and got some awesome images! Maddie's eyes are entirely the window to her soul. Such beautiful light was reflected in them. This was the first time I had a model have some professional looking makeup done and it was SO worth it! Absolutely spot on. I'm going to have to work with her friend Jenna more often for test and portfolio shoots! ;)

CITY REFLECTORS
Recently I've been not paying attention to the time of day I shoot. I get out there when I can and this challenges me to make work whatever type of light we have. In Seattle, a moment's notice could give you rain and I've learned not to trust the Weather app. It's better to walk outside to feel and observe what it looks like the day will bring... and then pack a raincoat just in case. So now that I'm paying less attention to time of day, I pay more attention to where I am and what's surrounding me. There are many buildings in the city that have reflective surfaces or that are light colors. If the light hits them just right, you can see it right in your model's eyes and the light brings out the color and dreamy clarity into focus. BAM! No reflector, no problem.

Sarah Anna

Sarah is another connection I made through Instagram and our shoot was the perfect way to spend a rainy Saturday with the succulents in the Conservatory at Volunteer Park. Sarah is a Junior at the University of Washington and just starting to blog. As we got talking we both agreed that college is a time that should be celebrated and not overstressed by wondering what you're going to do with the rest of your life and how you're going to get there to fulfill your dreams. We're both going to work hard to inspire others to find that spark to cultivate the momentum to dream, wonder, and LOVE.

Melissa W.

When the sun comes out in Seattle, DANG it's gorgeous! Melissa and I had a totally blue bird morning of chatting and shooting. We got some much needed Vitamin D. I found Melissa on Instagram and I'm so glad we were able to connect downtown to make some portraits of eachother! She's a Junoir at Seattle Pacific University who is into photography, film, and all the rest! Yay for making new connections with like-minded people and just getting out and releasing the shutter button!

Clair May

Clair and I both know this lovely family and she is a Sophomore at SU! Clair is from Bozeman, MT, and I'm so glad we connected because we are both from small towns and love being outside in the mountains, running, and exploring cute spots in the city! Here are some fun images from the other day when we walked downtown and the sun came out to play for a bit!
