2017 was a HUGE travel year! I have noticed that much of my photography and inspiration is drawn from my travels and what I learn while outside the comfort of what I know. My focus for 2018 looks like it will be accumulating what I have learned through travel and sharing it with you. My goal is to put together posts that are both informative and excite you about this crazy, beautiful home we call Earth!

I'm ending this year on a huge positive note. I truly feel full of gratitude for the friendships created and the opportunities 2017 gave me that will continue forward into 2018.

Road Trip: Seattle to Cannon Beach

Over our three day weekend, Alissa, Larry, and I wanted to do something fun so we spontaneously headed down to the Oregon Coast! It's a spot I've been and love. These two hadn't been before, so it was so great to go with new eyes and get away from the routine! Letting myself literally step away from work and out into new spaces truly re-energizes my system.

The Oregon Coast is a great getaway from Seattle, it's pretty close yet we felt like we ventured far way. I'd say that Cannon Beach is a needle in haystack... of the Pacific Northwest. There are so many natural gems up here but this one is definitely on top of my favorites. There's so much life around the area yet you can find yourself be completely swept up by the wind and taken under where you find solitude and silence in your mind, outside in the elements. There's space to enjoy and experience, the serenity of it all.

We stayed just north of Cannon Beach, in Seaside, OR at Ashore Hotel

This modern, renovated motel style hotel is steps from the beach and offer so many great amenities in addition to providing a community atmosphere. It felt like a home away from home, and I would definitely stay there again. To name few; their coffee & tea bar right in the lobby, complementary bikes and collection of movies and games to enjoy during your stay, make it feel like you're at the hip camp-out of the Oregon Coast.

Breakfast in bed is always a good idea, especially when you're on vacation! Who wants to get up and prepare it or search for a spot on the road? It was the weekend, we slept in (a little) and enjoyed a slow start! When you order Ashore's Breakfast Basket, scones, fresh fruit, yogurt, oj, coffee are brought right to your door... sounds like a dream to me, expect it's real life here at Ashore. ;)

We enjoyed so many cups of coffee & tea, just from the lobby of Ashore, it was always the perfect way to warm up after running around on the beach and riding around the town on bikes we checked out for free, right from the front desk!

Despite the weather, we decided on a Tillamook ice cream, we figured it would be best to get a native Oregon brand. ;) Ashore's outside patio and fireplace area is so cute, we hung out there and chatted for a while before heading into their heated pool & sauna.

A highlight was this bonfire on the beach. We looked at the weather and decided to do it on one of the mornings because it was supposed to rain both the sunsets we were there. Not complaining because we enjoyed a SWEET breakfast. S'mores for breakfast is of course a good idea, and it was Larry's first time making them! Ashore's Bonfire Package comes with all the fixin's for a perfect experience, and it's totally doesn't have to be summer to be enjoyable!

We loved staying in Seaside and hope we'll be back again soon on another adventure!
